At least 20 Nigerians killed in terrorist attack
09/07/2021 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) – On July 7, Boko Haram, a terrorist group in Africa, attacked communities in Adamawa State, Nigeria, killing as many as 20 people.
The Daily Sun reported that suspected terrorists fired shots at Dabna to announce their arrival.
“Residents ran to safety as sporadic gunshots were heard in different parts of the community,” Adamu Isa, an attack survivor and resident of Hong, told the Daily Sun.
Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari confirmed the attack and expressed sorrow for the innocent lives that were taken.
âThis level of savagery, inhumanity and reckless disregard for the sanctity of life cannot go unpunished. ” said Buhari. “We cannot afford to disappoint the Nigerians who have placed their security in our hands. ”
The Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram has killed tens of thousands of Christians in Nigeria and displaced millions of people in an attempt to get rid of Western influence and impose strict Islamic Sharia law. They target those who do not share their radical interpretation of Islam, often attacking villages and forcibly converting Christians, other religious minorities and the many Muslims who they believe do not adhere appropriately to the teachings of Mohammed. While the Nigerian military has repeatedly insisted on defeating the group, attacks continue.
Please pray for the end of the Boko Haram insurgency and for the Lord to soften the hearts of activists, who too often are children forced to participate in heinous acts of violence. Please also pray for those who have been victims of terrorism, that the Lord will heal them and strengthen the church in the midst of persecution.
