Congress fires all guns as BJP fumbles to explain ‘terrorist links’
The Congress has listed several cases that show a link between the BJP and Islamic terrorists; and plans to launch a nationwide campaign where he will enlist the crimes and photographs of terrorists allegedly linked to the BJP on posters, pamphlets and billboards for public awareness
In a scathing attack that attacks the rhetoric of patriotism relentlessly peddled by the BJP, the Congress party accused the ruling party of having “direct links” to suspected terrorists and Islamic radicals.
Pawan Khera, the recently appointed head of the Congress’s media and publicity wing, said Indians must “see through the BJP’s false nationalism and its disturbing willingness to flirt with anti-national forces”. Khera listed several cases which he said showed a link between the BJP and suspected terrorists.
The Khera offensive comes on the heels of the arrest of two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists – Pulwama resident Faraz Ahmad Dar and Rajouri’s Talib Hussain – from Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district. It was later revealed that Hussain had been a member of BJP’s Jammu unit and even served as head of IT and social media cell of Minority Morcha of Jammu BJP.

A few days before Hussain’s capture, another Islamic radical, Riyaz Attari, one of two men arrested by Rajasthan police in Udaipur for beheading a Hindu, turned out to be a member of the Rajasthan unit of the BJP who regularly attended party events in the state. and had been photographed on various occasions with senior party leaders, including former Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria. During the interrogation of Attari and his co-defendant, Ghous Mohammed, for the murder of Kanhaiya Lal, who was beheaded for defending sacked BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma, Rajasthan police discovered that the two killers were supporters of Karachi. radical group Dawat-e-Islami and had visited its headquarters in 2014.
“Tip of the Iceberg”
While BJP units in Jammu and Rajasthan desperately distanced themselves from Shah and Attari and claimed the two were part of a plot by Pakistan-based terrorist groups to infiltrate the party, Khera listed several other cases. where people with terrorist links were also linked to the BJP.
“Two incidents in the past week exposed the BJP with two faces. First, we learned that one of the accused in the horrific murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur was a BJP employee. Then it emerged that a terrorist captured from Lashkar-e-Taiba (Hussain) in Jammu and Kashmir was not just a member of the BJP office who had previously been captured in photos with the Home Minister Amit Shah, but was planning to launch attacks against the Amarnath Yatra,” Khera said.
Bold that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would “open his mouth” and Shah would “come out and give some clarification” on the revelations about Hussain and Attari’s ties to the Saffron Party, Khera said: “It is shocking that the BJP, a party which loses no possibility of preaching to Indians about nationalism, has members and officials who are deeply involved in violent anti-national activities”.
The Congress spokesman alleged that Hussain and Attari’s ties to the BJP were “not mere coincidences” and went on to list various instances from recent years where BJP officials were “caught in the act offense of participating in the request of Pakistani agencies in terrorism and espionage”. .
“Former BJP leader and ex-sarpanch Tariq Ahmad Mir was arrested two years ago for providing weapons to Hizbul Mujahideen commander Naveed Babu. Naveed Babu had previously been arrested along with DSP Davinder Singh, himself accused of supplying weapons to terrorists. The National Investigation Agency has confirmed that Mir is an associate of Davinder Singh. The truth would have come out if the Davinder Singh investigation had been carried through to its conclusion, but it was cut short halfway,” Khera said.
The Congress spokesperson added that the investigation against Singh, now suspended from office, had been terminated on the instructions of J and K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, a former BJP MP, on the grounds that “he is in the national interest that he cannot be investigated further.” .” “Who was the interest served here?” Khera asked.
Khera also claimed that the Madhya Pradesh counter-terrorism squad in 2017 dismantled a spy ring in which Dhruv Saxena, a member of the BJP’s IT cell, along with 10 accomplices, were “arrested for spying for the Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI) by setting up an illegal telephone exchange which allowed their handlers in Pakistan to impersonate Indian Army officials and collect national security information”. A photo of Saxena with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan went viral at the time, but Khera said no progress had been made in the investigation against Saxena after the initial brouhaha.
Khera also recounted that in 2017, “A Special Court of the NIA sentenced Assam BJP leader Niranjan Hojai to life imprisonment for participating in a ₹1,000 crore scam to embezzle funds government to support a militant group”. The funds, Khera said, were to be used to purchase weapons and carry out attacks on our security forces.
The Congress leader also accused the BJP of “knowingly giving a ticket to Masood Azhar’s acolyte, Mohammad Farooq Khan, to contest Srinagar’s mayoral election from Ward 33”. Farooq Khan was previously a member of the separatist group Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and the terrorist group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen.
Congress plans nationwide ‘offensive’
Congress sources say the party plans to launch a nationwide offensive against the BJP following revelations about Attari and Hussain’s links to terror groups and the BJP. Posters, pamphlets and billboards featuring photographs of Attari, Hussain, Hojai and other Islamic radicals with BJP leaders and listing the crimes they have been charged with are likely to be displayed by the units of State Congress and front organizations across the country to add weight to the party’s allegation of BJP ties to suspected terrorists and fundamentalists. A palisade to this effect has already been placed outside the Congress headquarters at 24 Akbar Road and party sources say more are likely to be installed soon at various locations in the nation’s capital.
A senior party official said it was important to call out the BJP for its links to suspected terrorists and Islamic radicals, as the saffron party and its affiliates have over the years repeatedly accused Congress of to be “soft on terrorism and Muslim appeasement”. “All these cases…be it Dhruv Saxena in 2017 or Attari and Hussain now…they show a disturbing link between the BJP and the terrorists but these have never been highlighted by the media or even by us. It is time we spoke about this clearly and put Modi, Shah and the entire BJP in the dock and ask them to explain this association with terrorists, militants and radicals. This is the only way to counter the deceitful and chauvinistic rhetoric of the BJP to be the standard bearers of patriotism.

Although senior BJP leaders and ministers in the Modi government have remained largely mum on the allegations, the party is in a frantic damage control mode; claiming there was an “international conspiracy” to defame the BJP and that men like Hussain and Attari had in fact “infiltrated” the party at the behest of Pakistan and Islamic terror groups.
Curiously, Congress and the BJP now want the investigations against Hussain and Attari taken over by the NIA. However, Rajasthan Congress Chief Govind Singh Dotasra also wrote to NIA Chief Dinkar Gupta demanding that the agency “conduct a thorough investigation” into the cases against Hussain and Attari and “reveal the truth about the links that these terrorists have with the BJP”. .
