Texas Lt. Gov. Matthew Dowd, D., hope was snapped against a CNN presenter on Monday as she repeatedly urged him to mass delete old tweets ahead of her recently launched campaign.

On “New Day,” the left-wing expert turned politician became frustrated when pressed by CNN’s Brianna Keilar over Fox News reporting the deletion of around 175,000 tweets earlier this year.

“How many tweets have you deleted? ” she asked.

Dismissing the report as a “conspiracy theory,” Dowd at first laughed and said he was “just cleaning up my records long before I thought of participating in this race.” Dowd, a former ABC News analyst and trusted supporter of the Democratic Party for the past decade, announced his campaign to oust Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, R., last week.

“Why did you do it then? She asked again.

“I just said, Brianna, I did it because I wanted to clean up all my files and get rid of whatever has built up over time,” he said.

“I understand that, but it’s not like emptying your email inbox,” Keilar retorted. “Get rid of all your old tweets.”

Dowd returned to his email inbox reference and noted that his story could be searched online if they were curious.

“It’s not a problem,” he said. “Everyone knows who I am, what I have done, what I have said, because I have said it repeatedly on national television over the past two decades.”

“So why delete them?” She asked again. “You know it’s going to raise eyebrows. It’s going to get a lot of scrutiny. In an age where someone deletes anything or doesn’t get, say, emails, we know where it’s going. You know that. it will attract attention. “

Dowd again called the report on his tweets a “conspiracy theory” and again confused his “inbox” with his old tweets.

“I think that’s an important question to ask,” Keilar said.

“Well, you asked for it, and I answered it,” Dowd said with a hint of voice. “You asked for it, and I answered it three times.”

Dowd, a Democrat-turned-Republican,-turned-independent, turned-back Democrat, was ABC News’ chief political analyst for more than a decade before leaving the network this year. Some of his now-deleted tweets include Rep. Elise Stefanik, RN.Y.’s attack on her gender and age, and the tweet of an image of a fatal pile-up on the Texas highway to poke fun at former President Donald. Assetthe impeachment defense team. He also previously called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas a “sexual predator,” said running for president against a woman was sexist, and accused Trump supporters of doing more damage to the republic than the Islamic State terrorist group.
