Senator Abba Moro visits the victims of the Igama terrorist attack
Prominent Senator Abba Moro on Monday morning visited villagers displaced by the terrorist attack on Igama community in Okpokwu LGA who are temporarily camped in Ojapo to see for himself the level of destruction suffered by the community on Sunday morning.
The attack by unknown gunmen resulted in the deaths of several villagers and the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.
Senator Moro, who tried to hold back tears, said the attack was evil, unjustified, unprovoked and barbaric. He said that Igama was a peaceful community whose people live in peace with each other and with their neighbors, and peacefully go about their agricultural and legitimate activities, saying the people did not deserve the attack.
He said what happened was unacceptable and called on the relevant security officers to pursue the killers and their sponsors and bring them to trial. He said that nothing less than the arrest and prosecution of criminals who he believes have no value for human lives would be accepted. He sympathized with families losing loved ones and those displaced from their homes. He promised to work with the relevant authorities to ensure that they are well cared for in the temporary camp for internally displaced persons awaiting their return home.
The Senator was received by the President of the AGL, Hon (Ms.) Amina Audu.
